I'm Six Weeks Old

Today is my birthday - again! I like this weekly birthday stuff! I just wish I kept getting presents!

Here's the official birthday picture!

Mary even made me get a bath for this one! It wasn't really a bath, she just filled the sink up with water and rinsed me off. It was a great adventure. I didn't like it at first, but then I realized that the warm water felt pretty good. Then she combed me and I looked like a little puff ball. Sheesh - how embarrassing. A canyon dog can't be a puff ball! I'm gonna have to put an end to that!

Here's how much I've grown!

This hand picture of John and me is now a tradition!

I was sleeping through the night, but now I'm not. It's not my fault! I have to get up to pee! Mary is good - she wakes up as soon as I start to whine a little. But after I go, I want to keep playing and she puts me back to bed! I hate that! But I must still be tired because I fall right back to sleep.

I've discovered being outside is the greatest fun of all. Yesterday I walked all the way up to the mailbox to get the mail and today I walked all the way up there to get the newspaper. Mary will take pictures when we get the mail this afternoon so you can see how far it is! Some really big trucks went by and scared me, but I was brave and kept tugging on the newspaper anyway!

John is my greatest play buddy!

My favorite toy so far is the alien porcupine! I squeaked it once, and I keep trying, but I can't quite figure out how I did it. Mary keeps saying I'll get it again if I keep trying.

Mary says tomorrow will be a big adventure. We have a veterinary appointment. I'm not sure what it means, but I hope it's fun. She says we're going to get a little harness so we can start learning to go for walks. Not sure about that one!

Well, I'm tired. I still sleep more than I play, but in the evenings I'm up for a couple hours at a time! During the day, I'd rather nap. And that would be NOW!

See you later!

My 5 Week Birthday

Today I'm five weeks old! I hope I get a birthday cake or something! Here is a photo of me on my birthday. And look how big I've gotten in the second one!

This is a picture of my new apartment! I just love having a place of my own.

Mary and John took some videos of me yesterday. They aren't very good. I'll definitely need new ones for a screen test, but these will have to do for the blog. Look how cute I am jumping and running and playing with a ball!

While you watch the videos, I'm going for a nap!

Let me introduce myself...

Hi - I'm Sid. Now that I have finally gotten a name - it only took them a week - I can start writing!

Am I cute, or what?

I moved to The Canyon last Wednesday, 1 July. I was 4 weeks old. I had a bit of a tough start in life. My mother wasn't the best - she tried to eat me when I was born. The vet said I would have to go to heaven right away, but my friend Tara said "NO WAY". She fed me from a bottle and fixed my infections. She's my hero and I'll always be grateful to her!

As soon as I was able to eat puppy kibble softened in water, I was able to move here! It was a little strange at first. I missed Tara's Doxie friends who kept me company. Also, they do things a little differently here. But I think my new people will be okay. I live with Mary and Chris now. Mary's brother John also lives here. They seem to love me a lot and they really help make sure I'm healthy and well fed! And John's a real sucker for a cute face. He's wrapped around my pinky claw already!

My first day was spent running around finding stuff I needed - including food! I have my tiger blanket from Tara, but I needed a place to sleep. Since I'm growing so fast, I'll be in a copy paper box for a while. Then I'll get a real crate for my bedroom.

I don't have pictures of Mary and Chris yet, but there are plenty of John and me!

This is my second day here when I met John.

This is also my second day. That's Mary holding me.

They have tile floors here. I spent most of my walking time on my second day splayed out. I don't quite have control over my back feet yet!

This is day 5, yesterday. I found this bird on the back patio.

I figured the best thing to do was to attack it - all in fun of course. We had a good wrestle for a while.

Then, yesterday, after MANY false starts and an awful lot of giggling about things that I didn't understand (they said "how about Blackie, or Spot?" and laughed hysterically), I was playing with my rope toy. Mary was commenting on how vicious I was with the rope. That's when I got my name! John had the idea, so I showed him I could live up to that name!

That will teach him to name me Sid Vicious!

Here's another picture that was taken yesterday. See how much I've grown?

I'm sure Mary will take lots of pictures of me to let you know how I'm growing. That's all for now, I think I need a nap!
